MPBT Game Graphics Archive

A new section has been added to the Images Archive - the Game Graphics Archive. Over time, graphics from within the game files will be added including 'Mech skins, terrain graphics, and miscellaneous graphics used within the actual games.

The first batch, from the EA version of MPBT:3025, has been added. These skins and object graphics were extracted from the game files of one of the latter releases of the MPBT:3025 beta.

Updated MPBT Timeline

The MultiPlayer BattleTech history timeline has been updated. A few new launch dates and awards have been added.

It's surprising at how many countries/areas MPBT: Solaris was available in. Not counting the global providers like AOL, Earthlink, and Compuserv, Solaris was commercially connected--through the main Kesmai game server--in South Africa, the Philippines, Germany, and England.

Isolated (independent) servers were also available in Japan and England, though both had very little player traffic.

More From Skippy's Fern Bar

More in-character roleplaying posts from Skippy's Fern Bar, one of the MPBT: Solaris forums on GameStorm in 1997.

Quickly ordering the first thing he sees on the menu, Blair thinks back to recent events. In a mission to save Terra from the evil pirate band known as the Hell's Horseman, Blair's right arm was cut off when he was captured by them.

Now a Major, and Battalion Executive Officer in the ComStar Guard and Militia (Better known as the Com Guard) The wearyness (sic) of command has worn down this young warrior.

Planetary Supply in 3025

In 3025, planning at a tactical level was dependent on planetary supply from the capital hex of a planet. The strategic aspect of 3025 was to be much more important than most games of its type; supply lines were critical for the continued combat effectiveness of any sized unit.

This excerpt from the MPBT:3025 (v1.5 - Kesmai) players manual illustrates the importance of supply chains on planets.

Solaris Logos and Banners

A few nostalgic logo and banner images from MultiPlayer BattleTech: Solaris.

The most interesting one is an early (and very crude) promotional image for MPBT: Solaris on LineOne, the U.K. provider for Solaris from 1997 to 1999. Very different than the images used on the GameStorm or AOL servers, this image is also very similar to the promotional images for the Japanese provider, Fujitsu.
