MPBT: 3025 (v2 - EA) Client Game Files

Courtesy of MPBT Archive member Uncreative, the client files for the EA version of 3025 are now available for download. This is not the client installer, but the files after installation--minus libraries (DLLs) and other supporting files. These are just the files in the MPBT3025 folder on a client computer.

There isn't very much useful information easily extracted from the game files. The graphics files are stored with a .k3s extension. (If anyone out there can extract those into another format, send them and I will post them.)

Japanese Solaris Screenshots

A few more screenshots from the Japanese version of MPBT: Solaris that ran on the Fujitsu service from 1997-1999.

These show more of the Solaris interface that was adjusted for the Japanese audience, while other parts of the game were still in English-only.

I'm not sure why only parts of the game were converted. The Fujitsu instance was in maintenance-only state by the time I was involved with it at Kesmai.

MPBT: EGA Round Tables - Bug Reports and Hints & Tips, Part III

The third set of EGA GEnie Round Tables for Bug Reports and Hints & Tips are now available.

An interesting quote from Kelton about EGA combat missions, pulled from the Bug Reports:

MPBT: 3025 Combat Shots

Four new combat screenshots from the EA version of Multiplayer BattleTech: 3025, circa October, 2001.

Mostly promotional shots, these were captured directly from the public beta version of 3025 at the time.

Mystery 3025 Screenshot

Back in early 1996 when Solaris was announced, the long-term plan was that Solaris--as we played in the web open beta (1996), AOL (1996), and GameStorm (1997)--would be the combat engine for the upcoming SVGA version of MPBT, to be titled MultiPlayer BattleTech: 3025.

My memory and common knowledge place:

  • (1996-1997) The original Kesmai version of 3025 announced in 1996 and canceled in late 1997.
  • (1999-2000) The second Kesmai/2AM version was announced in August, 1999 and canceled in mid-2000.

MPBT: Solaris - 1996 Codie Award Finalist

Back in 1996, Solaris was nominated, and a finalist, for the CODiE Award. The CODiE is a yearly award issued by the Software and Information Industry Association for excellence in software development the software industry.
